SPIRITUAL ACTIVITY

For the 70 years rule of Soviet regime the society was in a pretty severe informational vacuum. Taboos and prohibitions were an integral part of the life at that time and extended to all spheres of public and state activities including religion.

After such hard experience, it was vital to hold frequent meetings, discussions on religious topics as well as to pay much attention to the explanation of Christian Teaching so that it did not remain only as a rite, observances of the traditions, consolidation or intimidation but on the contrary, would become an integral part of ourselves, our code of conduct in life which will be directed to the well-being of needy regardless their religion and nationality.

Father Benyamin held Bible meetings both for young people and the representatives of more mature generation in Tbilisi and Gardabani. The Holy Scripture was explained at a Biblical Meetings.

Gradually, the world vision of people was expanding and the perception of religion was changing. Old stereotypes often based not on boundless love to God but on fear of Almighty were collapsed in mentality.

Together with conversations and Bible meetings father Benyamin prepared Cathechists who conducted religious education lessons with children in Tbilisi and Gardabani, getting them ready for the first communion and explaining Holy Scripture. Children were also introduced to the history of religion. During the years of the Mission in Georgia, more that 200 children received their first communion in our church.
