Preconditions of the Church Construction
MAR SHEMMON BAR SABBAE ASSYRIAN–CHALDEAN CATHOLIC CHURCH IN GEORGIA

During all the years of Mission's existence, the number of parishioners of the Chaldean Rite has increased and so has their desire for knowledge of the ecclesiastical traditions of the East, as well as a willingness to observe great feasts in accordance with requirements of the Chaldean Rite.

According to its conception, Mar Shemmon Bar Sabbae Assyrian-Chaldean Catholic Church should become religious and cultural center where Assyrians and Chaldeans of all ages and confessions from different districts of Tbilisi as well as from Gardabani and the whole Georgia would have possibility to meet, celebrate religious and state holidays, organize meetings and different events and also adhere to religious traditions and native culture.

This is the most significant for preservation of national identity, development of religious and ethnic distinctiveness and unification of the community. It made a dream of many generations of Assyrians, to have their own cultural home, come true.

Namely all these above mentioned preconditions became the main factors of making decision to build a church which would coincide with the requirements of oriental architecture and would also be multifunctional including praying hall, classes, conference, concert and banquet halls.
