CHILDREN BLESSING DIVINE LITURGY
January 13 2019
13.01.2019 / article / #church#events

It has become a goodwill tradition in Mar Shemmon Bar Sabbae Assyrian-Chaldean Catholic Church in Tbilisi to serve Divine Liturgy on the memory day of the beating of Bethlehem Holy babies. On this day about 100 children of pre-school and school age from Tbilisi, Gardabani and the village of Dzveli Kanda get blessing and anointing with holy oil.

A great work is being carried out by Church Pastor, Chorbishop Benyamin Beth Yadgar and church school teachers as well to introduce children to Divine Liturgy traditions and religious chants of our Church, which take their roots from the first centuries of Christianity.

Year after year more and more children and teenagers take part in Divine Liturgy. They sing in church choir, serve as deacons, read extracts from Holy Scripture and take part in praying during the Liturgy.

We want to note with great joy that children blessing Divine Liturgy of 2019 became especially memorable for church parishioners by the fact that all the chants were performed by children choir, making more beautiful the Divine Liturgy by sounding of their voices and giving spiritual pleasure to prayers.

The Liturgy was served by our dear Bishop of Holy Chaldean Catholic Church Fransis Yuhanna Kalabat (St. Thomas Diocese, Michigan USA).

According to goodwill tradition all the children, who attended the Liturgy, were given Christmas presents together with kind wishes and blessings.
