Today, June 2, 2019 a concert dedicated to the International children's day was held in the Assyrian-Chaldean Catholic Church of Saint Martyr Mar Shemmon Bar Sabbae. For several decades International children's day has been celebrated in more than 60 countries on June 1. History knows that in 1925, on the first day of summer, the Consul General of China in San Francisco found the children who lost their parents and organized a national holiday for them.
The first children's day in the world history was celebrated on June 1, 1950. The mission of these events was to draw attention to non-child problems of those who cannot stand up for themselves independently. First of all, the organizers wanted to protect children from hunger and war.
Much has been done over the years in the area of children rights protection but unfortunately, even today we see children suffering from hunger, cold and war. Today our children on behalf of all suffering children applied to us, adults, with their requests and wishes. Let's hear their voices and adhere to their pain because we are responsible for happy, peaceful and safe childhood of our children.
