11 years since consecration of Mar Shemmon Bar Sabbae Assyrian-Chaldean Catholic Church in Tbilisi

The consecration of Mar Shemmon Bar Sabbae Assyrian-Chaldean Catholic Church, which took place on October 17, 2009 in the city of Tbilisi, is one of those events that, without exaggeration, will be written with golden letters in the scripts of the Assyrian people who have lived in Georgia for many centuries.

This day was very important, exciting and full of emotions for the local community. Many parishioners had tears of joy in their eyes, and this is not surprising, because this event was really looked forward to by representatives of more than one generation of Assyrians. The ancestors of the Assyrians who attended the consecration ceremony on October 17, refugees who were forced to leave their historical homeland and flee persecution, could hardly imagine that one day, so far from their homeland, their descendants would have their own temple and cultural center.

Congratulations to all of us on this auspicious occasion, also congratulations to our dear Abuna Benyamin Beth Yadgar with the 11th anniversary of ordination to Chorbishop. Our dear Abuna, we wish you long life and express our heartiest thanks for these difficult years that you have lived and still continue to live for us and for the future of our children.
